Dr. Jerry Prevo has been the pastor of Anchorage Baptist Temple in Anchorage, Alaska since 1971. During this time, the church has grown from an average attendance of 300 to over 2200.
Dr. Prevo is a graduate of Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Missouri, and has done additional work at Belmont College, Tennessee Temple University, and the University of Tennessee. He was awarded a Doctor of Divinity degree in 1978 by Hyles Anderson College and in 1993 was awarded a Doctor of Divinity degree by Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. In Alaska, Dr. Prevo is known as the Pastor of one of Alaska's largest and most active churches. The Alaska Journal of Commerce has listed him as "one of the 25 most influential and powerful individuals in Alaska." He has also traveled extensively in Europe, the Middle East, and the Orient.
During the past 40 years, a 2100 seat auditorium, educational building, gymnasium and school complex of over 350,000 square feet, have been built on the 20-acre site at Northern Lights Boulevard and Baxter road, with no debt incurred. The church operates a Christian School with over 750 students, grades K-12. The school also has preschool ages two, three, and four along with all-day child care.
Besides being the Senior Pastor of Anchorage Baptist Temple, he is the founder and CEO of three radio stations KATB 89.3 FM, KJLP 88.9 FM, and a new contemporary Christian music station, Z93.7 FM Everybody's Station that started broadcasting in 1999. He is also CEO of the television station KCFT Channel 35, broadcasting family programming 24 hours a day. Dr. Prevo can be seen daily on television on the “Anchorage Baptist Temple Hour with Dr. Jerry Prevo,” and heard daily on his radio program, “Bible Principles To Live By.” Dr. Prevo serves on the Board of Samaritan’s Purse with Franklin Graham and on the Board of Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Liberty University has over 11,000 students and over 40,000 on-line students. Dr. Prevo is beginning his 7th year as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Dr. Prevo and his wife, Carol, are celebrating 46 years of marriage. |
